A Tale of 2 Trucks: How Do They Compare?
Select a category below to learn more about how the Chevy Silverado 1500 compares to the Honda Ridgeline.
POWER
Chevy Silverado 1500

What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you think about trucks? Engine power, most likely. Both trucks bring plenty of oomph to play, so you’ll have all the capability you need whether you’re hauling supplies or traversing rugged off-road trails.

Engine Specs

The Chevy Silverado 1500 outdoes the competition right from the start. Its standard 2.7L Turbo engine produces 310 horsepower and 348 lb-ft of torque. The standard V6 engine on board the Honda Ridgeline only manages 280 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque.

If you want to customize your truck’s performance, the Silverado is the clear choice. The Honda Ridgeline is only available with its standard engine, while the Silverado 1500 boasts a total of four engine options. The most powerful tops out at 420 horsepower.

Diesel, Anyone?

If you need unbridled strength, a diesel engine could be your best friend and you’ll only get one with the Chevy Silverado 1500. The optional Duramax® 3.0L Turbo-Diesel engine provides 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. It’s also designed for long-range efficiency, so you can really go the distance.

TOWING
Chevy Silverado 1500

Trucks are built to tow. Whether you’re pulling heavy machinery to the jobsite or taking your travel trailer out for a long weekend, you need a tough hauler that can handle it all. It’s also important to have plenty of smart towing technology that will make your life easier. Luckily, both models deliver.

How Much Can They Tow?

The Honda Ridgeline rolls in with a maximum towing capacity of 5,000 pounds. Plenty capable, to be sure. That’s all you’ll need to pull a light trailer or some ATVs. When the boss calls to bring out the heavy artillery, however, you’ll be thankful you have the Chevy Silverado at your side. It boasts a maximum towing capacity of 13,300 pounds.

Working Smarter and Harder

You’ll have superior control over your haul with the StabiliTrak electronic stability control system with traction control. It’s only available with the Chevy Silverado. It includes Trailer Sway Control, which senses shifts in trailer weight and automatically adjusts engine torque and brakes individual wheels to keep you in total command.

A Trailering App is also only available with the Silverado 1500. It lets you create customized trailer profiles so you can examine pre-departure checklists and monitor trailer tire pressure and temperature with just a glance.

UTILITY
Chevy Silverado 1500

Inside and out, the ideal truck adapts to your ever-changing needs. Both the Chevy Silverado 1500 and the Honda Ridgeline do exactly that. They offer plenty of space in the cab and in the bed, along with plenty of ways to stay connected on the move.

Load Up the Truck Bed

When you tug that strap and know your load in the bed is staying securely in place, it’s important that your truck can handle the extra weight. The Ridgeline boasts a respectable payload of 1,583 pounds, while the Chevy Silverado 1500 boasts a maximum payload of up to 2,270 pounds.

Staying Connected on the Move

Both models bring plenty of connective technologies to the table. In fact, they share features such as:

  • Bluetooth®
  • Apple CarPlay™
  • Android Auto™
  • SiriusXM®

The one difference between these trucks is the size of their touchscreens. The Ridgeline offers an 8-inch touchscreen display. However, you’ll find the available 13.4-inch touchscreen in the Silverado 1500 is much more user-friendly.
