Chevy Camaro

Tired of your ho-hum vehicle? Want to actually have fun again while driving? Then it’s time for something new, and the Chevrolet Camaro could be just what the doctor ordered. See what you’ll get under the hood with the 2021 model:

Powertrain

The base engine in the Chevy Camaro is a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder that puts out 275 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. But that’s purely entry-level stuff. There are three other engines to pick from:

  • 3.6-liter V6 with 335 horsepower and 284 lb-ft of torque
  • 6.2-liter V8 that puts out 455 horsepower and 455 lb-ft of torque
  • Supercharged 6.2-liter V8 that produces 650 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque

Go with the ZL1 with the supercharged engine “if you really want to feel yourself thrust into the back of your seat,” says Kelley Blue Book.

Transmission and Drivetrain

A six-speed manual transmission is standard, but you can opt for an eight-speed automatic. And if you go with either a V6 or V8 engine, you can get a 10-speed automatic transmission. The Chevy Camaro comes with rear-wheel drive, and combined with strong brakes and very responsive steering, this makes it a joy to drive.

Fuel Economy

For a muscle car, the 2021 Chevy Camaro gets good gas mileage. The base model offers 20 mpg in the city and 30 mpg with the manual transmission. These are the other mpg numbers:

  • four-cylinder, automatic: 22/31 mpg
  • V6, automatic: 19/29 mpg
  • V6, manual: 16/26 mpg
  • V8, automatic: 16/27 mpg
  • V8, manual: 16/24 mpg
  • Supercharged V8, automatic: 13/21 mpg
  • Supercharged V8, manual: 14/20 mpg
