Looking for a full-size pickup? We can help make this decision easier for you. Here we compare the Chevy Silverado 1500 and Ford F-150 in a couple of areas that may be important to you:

Cargo Space

If you’ll need a truck for some serious hauling, the Chevy Silverado 1500 offers three different bed sizes: 5-foot-10-inches, a 6-foot-7-inches, or 8-foot-2-inches. All beds come with an integrated bed step, making it a breeze to load and unload. You will also get 12 fixed tie-downs, so your cargo will stay nice and secure. In addition, there are several things you can add, including:

  • A tri-fold hard tonneau cover
  • A spray-on bedliner
  • An in-bed power outlet
  • A six-way multifunction tailgate

The Ford F-150 doesn’t offer the same big beds as the Chevy Silverado 1500, as they’re all smaller: 5-foot-6-inch, 6-foot-6-inch, or 8-foot.

Off-Road Ability

If you’re looking for a work truck that you’ll be able to count on no matter where a worksite is located, the Chevy Silverado 1500 is perfect. The same is true if you just want to get off paved roads for a while and have some fun. While the base model has nice off-road chops, for the best ability, consider the Trail Boss sub-trim. You’ll be able to take this truck almost anywhere, as it comes with:

  • Four-wheel drive
  • Skid plates
  • A two-speed transfer case
  • Rancho shocks
  • All-terrain tires
  • Hill descent control
  • A locking rear differential
  • A 2-inch suspension lift

The Ford F-150 does have some off-road capability, but it can’t compete with the Chevy Silverado 1500.
