2021 Chevy Silverado 1500

There are many reasons to think about buying the 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500. It offers a lot of cabin space, making it a great family car. It also has many advanced tech features, including USB ports and smartphone connectivity.

But, perhaps most of all, is it’s towing ability. If you need a Chevy truck for towing, then these are the specs you’re probably most interested in:

Power

The base engine in the Chevy Silverado 1500 is a 4.3-liter V6 that puts out 285 horsepower and 305 lb-ft of torque. Available engines include:

  • 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 310 horsepower and 348 lb-ft of torque
  • 3.0-liter turbodiesel six-cylinder engine that puts out 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque
  • 5.3-liter V8 engine that pumps out 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque
  • 6.2-liter V8 engine that can crank out 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque

Depending on the engine and trim, you can get a six, eight, or 10-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive is standard, but four-wheel drive is available.

Towing Capacity and Features

The towing capacity varies based on the cab style and trim level you go with.

  • V6: Between 7,200 and 7,900 pounds
  • Turbo-4: 9,000 to 9,600 pounds
  • Turbodiesel: 9,000 to 9,500 pounds
  • 5.3-liter V8: 9,300 to 11,500 pounds
  • 6.2-liter V8: 9,100 to 13,300 pounds

Thanks to some available features, the Chevy Silverado 1500 makes towing easy. You can equip yours with a trailer sway controller, hitch guidance, and a multicamera trailer system. And if you’ll need to do some hauling, the payload numbers range from 1,800 to 2,280 pounds.
