chevrolet parts

For the most part, the big stuff in your Chevy car will last for the life of the vehicle. This includes the engine and transmission. However, other components will wear down over time and need to be replaced. These are the Chevrolet parts that will need replacements sooner or later:

Battery

A car battery usually only lasts between three and six years. Having yours checked every year to see how much charge it has left is a good idea.

Oil Filter

While the oil should be changed twice per year, the filter probably doesn’t need to be replaced that often. It should be checked, however, to see how dirty it is. Once it gets too dirty to be cleaned, you’ll need a new one.

Windshield Wipers

Your wipers put in a lot of work, especially during the winter. This is why they have a pretty short lifespan. Even when they’re not in use, the rubber can crack and fray due to the sun and heat.

Brake Pads and Shoes

When you do a lot of stop-and-go drive, this taxes your braking system. This is something else that should be inspected on an annual basis. Pads and shoes generally last around 20,000 miles.

Tires

A new set of tires should last you about 50,000 miles, so they don’t need to be replaced too often. This is contingent on rotations, however. If tires aren’t rotated regularly, you will find yourself having to buy new ones more often.

It’s important to stay on top of these parts with your vehicle. To have any of these looked at to see if a replacement is needed, just get in touch with the service center at Andy Mohr Chevrolet in Plainfield.
